DMSP energy and energy flux,

The top figure shows the energy flux measured by DMSP along a track
across the auroral zone (solid lines), and the energy flux derived
from the UVI images along that track (symbols). The two solid lines
from the DMSP data show the energy flux under the assumption of
isotropic flux (lower line) and field aligned flux (upper line). The
bottom panel shows the characteristic energy. The characteristic
energy is derived from the brightness ratio of the LBH-short to
LBH-long images (symbols). The solid line represents the in
situ DMSP observations. (G. Germany)
