In November 2006, SRI International began operation of the National Science Foundation's Advanced Modular Incoherent Scatter Radar (AMISR) located at the Geophysical Institute's Poker Flat Research Range. As part of the AMISR project, funds were set aside to develop a set of optical instruments to augment and supplement existing instruments in Alaska to make simultaneous optical measurements of the mesosphere, ionosphere and thermosphere. This site is a portal to descriptions of the instruments, summary plots and data as well as access to raw and processed data, either directly or via request.
The table below shows the AMISR optical instruments and their location, with links to maps and instrument descriptions.
